Ternpaw
[break]
Ternpaw
Long-furred gray she-cat with white chest and paws | ||
She-cat | 10 moons | Motherly |
RiverClan | Apprentice | Fierce |
[break]
appearance
In her younger days, Ternpaw hated her long-haired pelt. It made her stand out among her short-furred family, and it meant she couldn't play as long as her brother without taking a break and a drink. Now she's grateful, both for the uniqueness granted to her and that she could hunt longer in leaf-bare than her relatives before she got cold.
[break][break]
The darker color helps too. It keeps in the heat from the sun longer, a trait she inherited from her black-coated father. They've enjoyed many days of just laying together and soaking up the rays from above. About the only thing Ternpaw took from her mother is her pretty green eyes, which quite honestly is her favorite thing about herself.
personality
Positive: Hard-working, Good listener, Motherly
[break][break]
Ternpaw isn't the strongest or the brightest, but she tries to make up for it by staying out longer, from sun-high to moon-high. She goes to sleep each night exhausted, but it's worth it to see the pride in her father's eyes when she brings home more prey than her denmates or the love and joy in her mother's when she throws her sparring partner to the ground. Even the annoyance in her brother's eyes when he's the one being thrown!
[break][break]
She's a good friend to have if you just need to rant and rave about things no one else in their right mind would care about. Ternpaw will just sit there with a calm face and pricked ears. She usually knows exactly what to say to make cats feel better, about themselves or a situation they find themselves in. It's an instinct, to sooth and support whoever needs her. She once entertained the thought of maybe becoming a medicine cat due to this instinct, but she doesn't have a head for herbs or a talent for healing.
[break][break]
And besides that, if she did become a medicine cat, she wouldn't be able to have kits. Ever since she was tiny, she'd known she wanted kits. She'd always been the one to kit-sit for the younger kittens, the ones who were just born and weren't big enough to participate in the rougher games. Even now that she's an apprentice, taking care of the young ones is her favorite thing to do, more so than training or hunting.
[break][break]
Negative: Perfectionist, Fierce, Opinionated
[break][break]
"That's not good enough." Come on, you can do better than that." "What was that? A kit could do better!" Ternpaw is hard on herself. She won't accept anything less than perfection, even if everyone else thinks that just her doing her best is good enough. Which is it, considering she's rather good at fighting and hunting, but Ternpaw won't hear of it. If she gets a sloppy kill, she berates herself and stays out even longer to make up for it.
[break][break]
The worst thing you could ever do is try to get between a mother and her kits. Though Ternpaw doesn't yet have children of her own, she has that fierce need to protect everyone, even the cats who she doesn't quite know all that well. With words or claws, she has the ability to send her enemies fleeing away from her.
[break][break]
What others call 'annoying as shit', Ternpaw calls 'helping others improve'. Since Ternpaw puts so much work into her training, she expects others to work just as hard. If she spots a mistake or something wrong, she'll let the other know almost immediately, depending on the situation. Like, if your weight isn't centered when you're stalking a bird, she'll wait until you either catch it or miss it before pointing it out. She annoys a lot of cats with it, but none more so than Thrushpaw. She just kind of brushes off his annoyance by saying "I'm your sister, I'm supposed to annoy you."

history
Spidernose and Snowfeather were opposites in every way imaginable. Spidernose was a calm and patient warrior, black in color who preferred standing back and observing rather than participating. Snowfeather on the other hand was impulsive and bold, preferring to be in the thick of the action and think on her paws. While they hadn't exactly grown up together, they spent enough time in the same dens to be aware of each other. He was five moons older than her, so he was already close to being an apprentice when she was born and becoming a warrior when she turned 6 moons.
[break][break]
Despite their differences, it was like they completed each other. They had opposite mind sets, yet could complete each other's sentences and could communicate without speaking. Snowfeather was the first to fall, developing a crush on him when he helped her with her training even after he became a warrior. Poor Snowpaw had no idea what to do with her affections and feelings, and usually ended up making a complete fool of herself and running away in embarrassment. It amused Spidernose greatly, and he took great joy in tormenting her for his own amusement.
[break][break]
Once she became Snowfeather, though, pretenses were dropped and Spidernose asked her to become his made, a decision that she leaped right into accepted. By the end of her 20th moon, she was expecting kits.

Kit
[break][break]
It was an uneventful day when Snowfeather gave birth. She'd been restless for the few days before, and the medicine cat had confined her to her nest. No one was with her when the belly pains came, not even the other queens and kits that shared the den with her. She had to yowl nice and loud for someone to get the medicine cat. By the end of the day, Snowfeather and Spidernose were the proud parents of two tiny kittens.
[break][break]
The older one was a she-kit, with Spidernose's darker colored fur but had Snowfeather's more stocky build. Snowfeather was the one to name her Ternkit, saying her pelt reminded her of the water bird. The second born was a tom, with Snowfeather's white pelt. But he was smaller than his sister, and it took the medicine cat a few minutes to get him breathing before he started squeaking and mewling. They named him Thrushkit, for his undersized build.
[break][break]
They thought that, since she was bigger and he was smaller, that Ternkit would be the dominant siblings. They couldn't have been more wrong. Ternkit was the quiet one, always willing to stay back and watch the Clan go about it's daily business. It was Thrushkit who got under everyone's paws, begging to go out into the forest and asking what the other Clans were life. Ternkit was always quietly amused at his antics and encouraged him in her own silent way.
[break][break]
As for her parents, Ternkit was daddy's little girl. She loved curling up with Spidernose and listening to his soothing voice tell her stories. Snowfeather knew her only daughter favored her father, but she was alright with it. So long as her little family was happy, she was content. Life was rather happy and normal for them, up until they reached their sixth moon.
[break][break]
[break][break]
Ternpaw and Thrushpaw became apprentices. Snowfeather went back to warrior duties. She and Spidernose are just as in love now as they were back then. No horrible battle happened to rip them apart, no outbreak of sickness effected them, and no crippling accident effected them. The most I can say is that Thrushpaw has loudly been begging Snowfeather and Spidernose for some baby siblings. Ternpaw secretly hopes for some as well, but isn't as obvious about it as her brother.
