The golden-brown tabby apprentice padded through the moor grass, his ears twitching as he listened to the sounds around him. He could discern the scuffling of mice somewhere hidden nearby, as well as the melodious sounds of songbirds. He had woken up early, deciding to take a walk through the moorlands and perhaps hunt. Just up ahead, the grass parted to reveal a slight clearing. The young tom sat down at the edge of the clearing, inclining his head upwards to gaze at the sky overhead. The clouds were sparse, mere wisps scattered about the vast blue sea.
Brackenpaw yawned slightly, still a bit tired. The wind had picked up, and a gust now ruffled his short tabby pelt. He was still uncertain if he should wait here for a few more moments, or instead begin to hunt; his whiskers twitched as the wind brought with it the scent of the nearby mice. It was relaxing, though, to just sit here and listen to the sounds of the moor; it was calm, peaceful. The sun was bright, and although it was not yet sun-high, the day was quickly warming up. Brackenpaw decided to remain where he was for the moment, content to enjoy the calm for a few moments longer. It wasn't often that he'd have time to enjoy such a moment, what with training and patrols.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'! [attr="class","medcontainer"] [attr="class","medicon"] Sparrowpaw heard someone suddenly move, within the den. Her little brown ears turned to find where the footsteps, where going. She waited for silence to return, before ungracefully getting to her three paws. A bit groggy eyed and half asleep, she stared to move out of the den. Even with her eyes half open, some movement near by the camps entrance got her attention. She was sure that, Sootstar wouldn't miss her for a bit.
She followed the brown tabby blur, giving the air a quick sniff. She noted it was Brackenpaw, so followed it less carefully but was already far behind to make a sound. Soon she caught up the other apprentice. Sitting down next to him, it was to early in the morning for her to ask if it was ok for her to come sit. Her ears twitched as the cold air flowed through, turning to the tom. "Hey Brackenpaw. Do you come here often? you know this early. I don't think i'm awake!" she joked.

Brackenpaw's attention had been focused on the chirping of the nearby birds, and he hadn't noticed that Sparrowpaw had approached until the other apprentice sat next to him. He blinked slightly, surprised, before he realized that it was only Sparrowpaw. "Oh, hi Sparrowpaw," the golden-brown tabby started. He listened quietly as she spoke. "Not often- I-I mean I've been here a few times, not this early though." he said. He yawned slightly, before adding; "Yeah, I'm kind of tired too."
Brackenpaw's green gaze scanned the clearing as he tried to find the mice he had scented earlier. It seemed that the mice hadn't moved yet; he checked the air and determined that he was downwind of the mice. They hadn't seemed to be alerted of the apprentices' presence. "I found this place on a hunting patrol once; it seems to be an okay place for finding prey," he started. "I was thinking about hunting, did you want to join in too?" Brackenpaw asked, before quickly adding "If you're too tired, though, that's okay- I'd understand. We don't have to hunt if you don't want to." The apprentice waited to hear Sparrowpaw's response, uncertain what she would say.
