Hawkfeather padded towards Skyrock to relay Faithstar's wishes to her fellow Clanmates. She was a bit nervous considering this was the first announcement she had ever made in front of all these cats, but at the same time, she felt honored to be in charge. She took her place on a small bolder below Skyrock where she had seen Faithstar make her announcements when she was a deputy, it seemed like it was only yesterday.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, please gather around!" She yowled loudly so that everyone could hear her.
    She waited for a small amount of cats to gather in the center of camp. Hawkfeather felt discouraged with the size of her clan and understood why Faithstar wanted to cut out hunting parties and just patrol the borders. She waited for the last few stragglers to emerge from their dens and began ,"As you all know, we are very hard up for warriors until our apprentices become warriors. We struggle to find prey for clan, and we are struggling to maintain our borders. Its just how Clan Life works. SkyClan Needs more then ever before, to patrol our borders. Faithstar and I have came to an mutual agreement, until further notice, we will be cutting back on our hunting parties and increasing our border patrols. This doesn't mean we will not have hunting parties, since we do have many hungry mouths, it just means we won't be as comfortable as we have been for the last few moons. Almost every Clan has new leaders and deputies, and with this in mind we need to be on top of our borders. Today I would like to send out two patrols. One going into the Redwoods with myself, and the other going towards Patched Valley. They will both meet up at Shallow Canyon and proceed to hunt. Is there any volunteers, or do I need to pick random cats?"
      Hawkfeather hoped she wasn't to demanding, but the fact of the matter was, the Clan really needed to be ready for any possible threat that could harm their clan.

Mintpaw heard the call from the depths of the Medicine Cat den, and with a long stretch, she trotted out into the center of the camp. It was very disappointing to see how few cats had gathered. The Clan was indeed smaller than one might have hoped, and yet, with their apprentices and kits growing up nicely, they would not be terribly small for much later. However, it was something that Mintpaw made a mental note of. It seemed rather unusual to have a mid-morning announcement of any kind, and so she stared up hopefully at Hawkfeather atop the Skyrock, ready to report on anything if she were to be asked. [break][break]

The announcement was a change in patrol setup. Why she had needed to come to this, Mintpaw did not know. She did not participate in patrols; had more pressing matters to attend to. Collecting herbs and helping those who were in need was somewhat time-consuming when she had to learn and practice every Medicine Cat skill over and over again. That, and StarClan was being dreadfully silent. They had not left any sign about the sudden loss of all leaders at once, and Mintpaw felt as if she had perhaps missed something. Still, these were thoughts for another time and possibly another place. Now, she was listening to the change in patrol schedules, and, bored, was silently wishing she did not have to.

lavenderpetal padded out of the warrior's den, stretching in an attempt to completely wake herself. she had dozed off unintentionally and was awakened by hawkfeather's call. shaking her dense brown and white coat, she joined the rest of the clan, sitting with the other warriors, her pale blue eyes still somewhat glazed with sleep. shaking her head, the she-cat forced herself to finish waking up, grooming her fur in slight embarrassment at having woken up and fallen back asleep in the middle of the day. well, you dense flea-brain, that's what you get for not making an honest attempt at sleeping during the night like everyone else. shaking off the thought, she turned her attention to the order proposed.

a volunteer patrol...why not, it'll give me a chance to stretch my legs, she thought as she listened to the deputy's words. her icy blue gaze was thoughtful as she considered volunteering immediately for the opportunity to make up for her laziness so far in the day. the brown and white warrior simply stood up and waved her tail. she was not going to turn down the opportunity to patrol, especially if they were going to be meeting back up to hunt.

looking up at hawkfeather, lavenderpetal's eyes were glittering as she gave her answer. "i'll be glad to go," she meowed. "perhaps it will make up for my waking up late." the she-cat added, trying to brush off her feelings about having slept in a bit. she stretched once more, kneading her paws into the earth as the life came back into them. she may not be a morning cat, but she could do with the fresh air, and what better way to get it? the weather was fair and, although it was still early, she was already growing a bit restless and desperate for exercise.

Hawkfeather purred in amusement," Alright Lavenderpetal, I would like if you lead the patrol towards Patched Valley. Maybe that will help you wake up?" Hawkfeather searched the crowed for a a cat to go with her on the other patrol, her gaze picked out Lionclaw, her ears grew hot with embarrassment, she quickly licked her paw to clean her face to try and hide it from the others. she then meowed with her musical voice ,"Lionclaw, Would you like to join my patrol? Is there any one else that is willing to go with Lavenderpetal?" She looked up at the sun and noticed that it was almost sunhigh, the day was almost half over. She began to pace to wait for more responses, she really didn't want to just assign cats to go on patrol, but it was starting to look as if she would have to.
