| I'll let you set the pace, cause I'm not thinking straight, my head sp inning around I can't see clear no more |
Faithstar let out a deep breath. Her first gathering. Of course, she was well known -and respected, she hoped- throughout the clans. And she was known as the deputy of SkyClan. But now she was the leader. Each of the current leaders of the Clans had been leading for moons before even she could remember. Some not as well as other, but still, they were settled in their duties.
It would be so embarrassing if she messed up in some way. What if she fell off her branch? Oh, StarClan that would be the end of her. Shaking her head, the she-cat cleared away any thought of failure. She had her clan behind her. What few she had brought at least. SkyClan would look weak tonight, she knew that. However, she had had to leave most of her warriors behind, only taking her deputy and one other warrior. There were four kits and a mother who needed feeding. That was almost half of the Clans population. Thankfully, it was greenleaf, and hunting hadn't needed to be done as often. Next moon she would lead more warriors, and the other Clans would know SkyClan was still powerful.
Flicking her tail like she'd seen done so many times, Faithstar rushed forward, leading her Clan to her first gathering as leader.

Echostar sat at the edge of Riverclan camp. So many thoughts and emotions ran through out the white and grey she-cat. This was her first gathering since her leader died. She didn't know of course that all but one leader had died that moon. Her old leader was respected by many and loved by some even out her clan. This felt like a huge blow to the warrior community. She wondered how she would even come close to as good of a leader as they where.
She didn't say much the the walk to the gathering. Lost in her own thoughts. They and Windclan were the only clan to not have a litter in the last moons. This troubled Echostar some what. But she was told clan have ups and downs. That it will get better. Echostar wanted to believe this, but in the back of her mind something was wrong. Her thoughts were snapped out of her as they got to the edge of the clearing. She looked to the right of her where her warriors and apprentices that she chose to come stood.
She gave a silent flick her tail and the Riverclan cats rushed into the gathering. She noticed Faithstar, not knowing she had two been made a leader. She walked over and greeted her with a slight bow of the head. "Good evening, Faithsong."

let you heal at your own pace @rosepelt The brown tabby took a deep breath. He was in a hard position, leading a clan to a gathering when he was neither leader nor deputy. With what happened to Marshstar, and Ravenfeather too busy to come himself, there was no way around it. With such an important message to bring, the senior warrior had to wonder if the other Clans would even believe him.
He would have only his respect from other Clan leaders and warriors alike that he was telling the truth. Until then, he must stay calm. Nodding his head, Eaglespirit flicked his tail, and jogged to the Great Oak.
Upon arriving, Eaglespirit padded over to Echostream and Faithsong, the deputies of RiverClan and SkyClan. Dipping his head in greeting, he meowed a quick hello to them. "Larkstar and Pinestar are well, I hope?" [/div]

Faitstar nodded her head at Echostream. They were good friends as deputies. As far as friendships in other clans go, at least. "Oh, it's Faithstar now, Pinestar has passed away" Letting the depth of her words sink in, Faithstar bowed her head in mourning for a moment.
Upon picking her head up, the calico she-cat noticed that ShadowClan had arrived. That means only WindClan and ThunderClan aren't here yet... Faithstar nodded her head in return at Eaglespirit, before repeating her news about Pinestar to the warrior. "Where's Marshstar?" she asked, once she had noted the toms disappearance, "or Ravenfeather..?" Letting her words trail off, the she-cat shrugged a bit. Eaglespirit had never seemed the ambitious type. Something must just be going wrong. At least she wouldn't look as bad as she'd thought.

Echostar's fur prickled on the back of her neck and sent a shiver down her spin. Skyclan's leader had almost met a death way to soon. Larkstar was a good leader to the clan and will be a tough act to follow. But she to be strong. Now more then ever in front of the clans that may soon be enemies. Her gaze held stayed darted between Eaglespirit and newly named Faithstar. "That's a sad thing to hear. Faithstar. He was well liked" her words rang true to her. She had no reason to lie.
"But I am too with a new name. I am Echostar" Her words seemed odd to her. A leader not so long after becoming deputy. She felt so young but so old. "I'm sure. Larkstar walks among the stars now and will guide me and my clan safely through hard times." She announced. Though sadness ran from her paws to her tail, she didn't want to show it at the loss of her past leader. She wondered what she would say when she got upon that branch. The food was returning well. But the lack of kits worried her.

Silent like the hunting owl, Fallenstar lead her Clan toward the Great Oak for the gathering. ThunderClan had been well, despite the shadow cast on them from the death of Talonstar, their former leader. It was easier to swallow the grief when the black she-cat thought of the lovely kits that bounced around the ThunderClan nursery these days -- Ashkit and Lionkit, the two little toms, and their sisters Silverkit and Fallowkit. Though their mother was only an apprentice, the very fact of having kits made the ThunderClan leader's heart soar. Shaking her head to clear the thoughts and focus on the impending gathering, Fallenstar lead her warriors through the undergrowth and burst out into the clearing. A quick sweep of the clearing with her evergreen eyes revealed that everyone but WindClan had arrived. The mood seemed dark for some reason -- this made the white fur on the leader's spine prickle with unease. "Good evening Faithstar, Echostar," Fallenstar trotted over to the two cats just as they were speaking about the death of their leaders. "I'm sorry to hear of the loss between our Clans... Talonstar just died recently, too."Her eyes began to sting and her voice faltered, and the ThunderClan leader had to look away. While doing so, she caught the sight of brown tabby fur. Jarred out of her grief, Fallenstar felt a stab of horror. "E-Eaglespirit?" she choked. "Marshstar and Ravenfeather died?"The usually elegant leader felt her fur ripple uncomfortably and fear was getting the best of her. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong, indeed.

Eaglespirit dipped his head to the two she-cats. "They were both amazing leaders, StarClan has gained valuable warriors." Just as he was about to speak of his leader and deputy, Fallenstar joined them. He had heard of ThunderClans leader passing from a patrol. Suddenly realizing that meant three leaders had passed in a moon, Eaglespirit felt a shiver of fear run through him. He was no medicine cat, but there was no mistaking that it was an omen.
"Hello, Fallenstar. As you know, my sorrows are with your Clan for the loss of your leader. Thankfully, our leader is still with us, though not for long. He is currently on his way to StarClan after an.. indecent. He's asked Ravenfeather to stay with him as they were close. I'm simply filling in as a senior warrior." [/div]

can i really be here?
524 words WINDCLAN nervous
[break]
Sootstar walked into the Gathering, a leader for the first time now, and somewhat uncomfortable at the notion. For the past few sunrises she had been entirely terrified at the prospect of this important meeting. She had now taken over guiding WindClan, and was extremely new to the cause of it. In fact, she was still unsure if they other Clans even knew of Sparrowstar’s passing. With a soft sigh, Sootstar walked into the throng of cats that were already present. She felt uncomfortable with the thought of sitting up with the other leaders, of announcing Clan news and being watched by so many pairs of eyes. It wasn’t that she was particularly shy, no, but that she was unadjusted to being leader. It was still something completely foreign to her. [break][break]
Sootstar had been taught about Gatherings from kithood on. The elders had told many stories of them, and the events that transpired. When she was first taken as an apprentice, there had seemed so many cats together of all different types. The leaders had seemed so majestic, so magnificent, and had left her wanting to be as important as they were. Now it was a reality, one that she was not quite ready to face. [break][break]
There had been so much to give up upon becoming leader. Having a family, for instance, no longer seemed to be a viable option. Sootstar had never had much success with the toms to begin with, but now that the Clan was her family—in a way, her children—she had no reason to want any more. It was unusually saddening to think, even if she had no one to share a family with, because she was simply alone. Being leader may have meant an entire Clan to look after, and to care for, but she got very little of that same compassion in return. In fact, many of her Clanmates still had reservations about her as their leader. She felt a stronger need to prove herself with every sunrise, and this Gathering was only adding to the need to look mature and important in front of the rival Clans. [break][break]
Sootstar marched into the throng of cats, unsure where to go or what to do. After all, she was new, and had not been long a Deputy either. Clan Gatherings were still a rather foreign affair, especially in a position of any power or significance. She shuddered slightly at the thought of the eyes that would be trailing her wherever she went. Perhaps she should find some cat to speak with? Who? Who would be interested in speaking with her? She was not terribly social, and did not have many friends. It would be easy for a socialite cat who was not so awkward and in some ways inept, but Sootstar knew she might as well do something. She paced a bit, uneasy, before finally approaching the Great Oak to sit and simply watch the cats around her. Perhaps someone would come speak to her. Perhaps not. Regardless, WindClan had arrived, and she felt she might at least watch their conversations to see if anything important might occur.

Nodding her head at Echostream's words. Pinestar would be a tough act to follow, but he had believe she would do well, and so did she. Of course, she could only hope her Clan was behind her. A small shiver went down her spine at Echostream-stars words. That meant two leaders had passed in the last moon. After a moment, before Faithstar could even process the news, it was revealed that ThunderClan, too, had a new leader. Fallenstar. Faithstar nodded politely at the new leader. That was three leaders in a moon. That had to be some kind of sign.
The calico she-cat nodded her head once at WindClans arrival. Sootnose, to her surprise, was leading the Clan. Did that mean she was filling in, or was there another dead leader? Sighing, the calico she-cat dug her claws into the bark of the Great Oak. "Greetings Sootnose, how has your moon been?" she said politely, while watching the black and white she-cat settle down to sit, looking a bit nervous. Faithstar was sure they all felt the same, yet Sootnose hadn't even heard of what had happened to three of the leaders. They weren't her leader, of course, but the dead of so many leaders could not bode well for the clans.

306 words LEADERS uneasy
[break]
Sootstar shifted uneasily, and heard Faithsong speak. She looked about, seeing the other cats around her standing in where the other Clan leaders should have been. Suddenly, a strange feeling crept over her, and her intuitive instincts kicked in. Something was indeed very, very wrong about this Gathering. The Clans were all present, of course, and their respective Medicine Cats and deputies, but she did not see the other leaders. In fact, she was beginning to feel as if she had not been the only one to take over a position, and that, in fact, the other Clans might have fallen into the same predicament. [break][break]
“Hello, Faithsong,” Sootstar said softly, her eyes trained on the deputy. “It is Sootstar now, actually. Sparrowstar has unfortunately joined the ranks of StarClan, and I have replaced him as the Clan’s leader.” Sootstar looked at the deputies, along with Eaglespirit, who seemed to be filling in. Had the Clans all really lost leaders so quickly? Sootstar hoped not. What on earth could StarClan be doing by stripping all Clans of their leaders at once? It seemed extremely coincidental, but she understood that this could not possibly be the case. Sparrowstar’s words to her echoed in the back of her mind now, and she felt herself grow uneasy. Something was indeed wrong. Something was coming to the Clans, and by the sound of things, it was not going to be easy. Be prepared for the course of your life to change forever. As if that was not already the case, being the new leader—and of course, the youngest leader that WindClan had ever seen. Now it only seemed that his words held a meaning far greater than she or any other cat could have foreseen.[break][break]
“And by the look of things,” she added quickly, “I am not the only one.”

Echostar watched as everyone filled into the gathered under the oak. She turned and jumped on to a low hanging branch. "I believes it about time we started don't you?" she asked the other leaders. She perched her self carefully on the fat low hanging branch waiting for the other leaders to join her. This was a odd time for her, she suggested to start the gathering. One where she would leave. The same fear rushed over her the one where she announced her deputy. Thoughts rushed through her head. What was she to say. She couldn't give away to much about the clan. That would be silly and leave them open to attack.
She wondered how well this gathering would go. All leaders had been lost, but one. The one that was still alive, the one that could of lead this gathering smoothly was not here. She sighed under her breath only the leaders could hear it but she was sure the warrior blow could see it. She wanted to started with her peace but she choose to wait for the other leaders to join her. Maybe they'll speak first and make it less hard for to find the right words.

Another shock went through the calico she-cat. That made 4 leaders, of five. And, as Eaglespirit stated, Marshstar wouldn't last too much longer. "Actually, it's Faithstar now" she said simply, but not without kindness. As she opened her mouth to continue, Echostar spoke, and reminded Faithstar that it was, in fact, their responsibility to start the Gathering. The she-cat had been half expecting their old leaders to do it. "I agree" she meowed in response, sitting up straighter. After a moment, Faithstar noticed Echostar didn't seem to start herself. Instead, Faithstar stepped forward, and waited for the meeting to hush down - which didn't take long. She had always been the brave one, hadn't she. "Welcome, cats of all clans," she started, before taking a quick breath to steady herself. She wasn't used to all of these faces looking up at her, but she only felt pride. "Pinestar has passed away this moon, and I have made the trip to the Rockpool to receive my nine lives. We mourn our old leader, but we know life must go on in our Clan. With that said, we have two new apprentices. One of which Ashenearth has taken on as the medicine cat apprentice." With a nod of her head, the she-cat took a step back and sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws.

335 words GATHERING uneasy
[break]
Faithstar now. Perhaps this would have come as more of a shock, but the words in Sootstar’s head rang out loud and clear, and she had almost known something bad was bound to happen. Why? What had the Clans done that had caused StarClan to take away all of their leaders at the same time? A fresh start for the Clans hardly seemed necessary, and it in a way truly worried Sootstar. She did not like the sound of the Clans being in such deep distress, and at the same time, she knew it was only going to grow worse before it became better. How or why, was yet to be seen. [break][break]
Faithstar stepped forward and spoke, the hushed Clans below her staring with glinting eyes. She was the first of the new leaders, and all save SkyClan seemed saddened and somewhat surprised. To them, two leaders had been lost. What they did not know was that this number was about to increase dramatically. When Faithstar had finished, Sootstar felt her paws carry her forward next. She was somewhat nervous, yes, but she did not want to be the last cat to announce her leader’s passing. The more new leaders left to speak up, the more surprised the Clans would be, and the more uncomfortable everything would become. [break][break]
“WindClan also suffered a loss. I have taken the place of Sparrowstar as leader, and have received my nine lives as well. I have chosen Shroudedjaw as my deputy.” Sootstar paused, feeling a slight ripple of disbelief shake across the gathered cats. It would only be worse when the next Clan spoke. “Sparrowpaw, Otterpaw, and Almondpaw have been made apprentices and we congratulate them on this achievement.” The fear had left her by the time Sootstar was finished speaking, but as she returned to her original seat, she became quite aware that there was a prickling fear among the cats below. They knew something was wrong, and perhaps they too suspected the darkness that must be coming.

Echostar pawed at the ground, before giving a awkward smile to the leaders next to her. She also had to bring the bad news. One she wished she did not have to bring. Not with the rest of the cats anyway. "Riverclan is strong. Our pray is returning and all seems well." she spoke. But what she was saying wasn't all true. In fact she was very worried about the lack of kits or pregnant she-cats in her clan. There was none. No new apprentices to speak of or kits. But she swallowed hard.
"I too, have taken the leader role. Larkstar left us not to long ago. I have been given my nine lives and my name Echostar. Spiderweb was given deputy and I believe we'll lead the clan as well as Larkstar did." her voice was strong. But it was still a little weird for her. To hear her own voice echo around the camp. She wished it didn't have to come to this. 4 leaders lost. One one his last legs. What was star clan thinking?
