Brackenpaw is a slightly small, lithe tom with golden-brown tabby fur. The fur on his muzzle, paws, and tail-tip is a lighter shade of brown. He has a patch of white fur on his chest, and green eyes with the slightest hint of orange. Brackenpaw has a more rounded face, with ears that are slightly larger than normal. He has short, although soft fur. He's not a very muscular cat, more so built for speed than for strength.

Brackenpaw is quite a clever and quick-witted apprentice. He's rather thoughtful, and cautious; he always thinks before making a decision or coming to a conclusion, taking into account most possible outcomes. He's very patient and usually calm. He's a quick learner and aspires to be come a skilled hunter. Brackenpaw is at most times friendly and polite, and considerate. He's quite responsible and is also serious and focused. However, Brackenpaw's typically a quiet cat, who's also a bit shy. He tends not to speak unless around close friends or in response to another. He doesn't always know the best thing to say and a lot of times second guesses himself. He's also somewhat indecisive. Brackenpaw is not the most confident cat there is, although he tries his best for the most part. He's a bit reluctant to fight, and in battle may be worried about seriously injuring another cat.[break][break]

Brackenkit was born to two WindClan warriors by the names of Briarstorm and Antfoot at the end of Leafbare. He had two littermates- a brother named Toadkit, and a sister named Acornkit. Brackenkit was the most quiet of the three; his siblings were more boisterous and adventurous. Brackenkit was especially different from Toadkit; his brother was much more outgoing and braver, although more reckless, than he was. Despite their differences, all three siblings were close friends, and Brackenkit would usually follow Toadkit and Acornkit in their many adventures about the camp. He was apprenticed along with his siblings at the age of six moons.[break][break]
Although close friends as kits, the newly made apprentices began to drift off; Brackenpaw was more focused on his training than Toadpaw and Acornpaw were, and Toadpaw would often skirt around the rules in order to go adventuring. Toadpaw got into trouble a bit often; once, when he and Brackenpaw were on a hunting patrol soon after being made apprentices, Brackenpaw noticed his brother missing. Following his scent, he saw that his brother had gone quite close to the ShadowClan border; Toadpaw had said that he was curious about what the other Clans were like. Brackenpaw hadn't been certain if Toadpaw had ended up leaving WindClan territory or not, and the two got into a slight argument. They didn't speak that much to each other for a few days, but soon the two got over it. Brackenpaw never heard Toadpaw mention that he'd left WindClan's borders after that incident; however, Toadpaw didn't speak that much about his adventures afterwards, either. Brackenpaw is currently still an apprentice and is in training to become a warrior.
