if i could stop the rain would you numb the pain? She had bounced her way down into the field, in an extremely good mood for some unknown reason even to herself. With bright yellow eyes the snow white molly made her way through it, knowing full and well she wont be alone for all too long. She never really was, always having one cat to at least keep her company, and oh did she expect that tom to make his appearance sooner or later.
They had been friends since the foreign cat had been taken in by the clans, she had been weird, spoke funny and was... Well foreign. Yet he had taken to her just as she had him and the two became quite the duo until he became an apprentice, but even then he seemed to wait for her. They became warriors side by side and she never thought that their friendship would have made it thus far.
Lost in her thoughts Dovesong came to a side in the middle of the field, a soft purr rumbling in her throat. Go go go template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

The short legged tom bounded as fast as he could, his short tail windmilling behind him to keep his balance, breath coming roughly through his throat. He knew she would be there; they always knew where the other was without even trying. He was frustrated with himself once again, anger radiating off his pelt as he made his way to her. To Dovesong. He'd made a fool of himself on the morning hunting party and couldn't drop the pain and embarrassment that welled up inside him. He'd thought he could do it. Thought that that bird would be an easy catch despite what the other two members of the patrol had warned him. He'd ignored their warnings and leaped for the bird, his claws just barely clipping the edge of the birds wing...and fell flat on his face into the mud by the river bank. His legs weren't long enough nor powerful enough and he'd just fell in the mud. Like he was some clumsy kit who couldn't do anything for the clan.
A low growl rose in his throat as he picked up the pace just ever so slightly. He wasn't going fast by any means, but it was the best he could do with his stumpy little appendages. Her scent washed over him and he felt the very edge of his anger dull just so slightly, before he busted through the reeds and skidded to a halt, paws struggling in the soggy ground that the reeds called home. He tumbled over onto his side and rolled a bit before bundling gently into her side. He felt his pelt flame as he stood and shook the larger clumps of the mud out of his fur. He dipped his head and licked his chest once, twice, three times before turning his shy gaze to her.
"Sorry...bout that.." He flattened his ears against his skull in shame, hoping he hadn't hurt her. A quick brush of his nose against her cheek was all he could muster up at the moment, too afraid she would be upset with him. They'd grown up together, and you would think that he would know exactly how to act around her, but he was still so uncertain with everything. He was always scared and nervous. He didn't want her to ever decide that he was too much trouble, didn't ever want to lose her friendship. He loved her and he knew it. Truly and completely. She was his best friend, his only family left...his soul mate. Though he was naive in the ways of relationships he knew there was something about her that he needed to have in his life. Something about her sweet face and her endearing accent that spoke to some deep and primal place inside him. She was all he had. All he would ever need.

if i could stop the rain would you numb the pain? Thump. She felt the light bump against her side as the stubby legged warrior made his very exciting entrance. She couldn't help but purr a tiny laugh as he got up and licked his chest a fer times, yellow orbs watching his every action. He had spoken, yes but she wanted to wait until he had settled himself first so she could speak clearly without stumbling too much.
Finally the pretty white molly parted her jaws. "Oh hush darling." She purred, licking the top of his head softly. "You know I'm quite alright." Her accent, seemingly British, though she had reigned from Greece. She moved to smooth his fur along his back after the tumble, though she could feel the anger rippling through his body.
"Oh my sweet whats wrong, are you alright? Did someone hurt you?" She had bounced to her paws, padding around the tom searching for a wound or anything that might be off about him. Go go go template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

As she spoke and planted small licks on his pelt he felt some of his anger ebb away, but it all came flooding back when she asked what was wrong and if anyone had hurt her. She cared so much and it made him almost uncomfortable and times. He felt like he wasn't worth the beautiful she cats attention and knew she could easily put her attentions elsewhere. It amazed him again and again how she chose to spend her free time with him. But they were young, things, and feelings, changed. He let out a harsh sigh and hung his head slightly. "No one hurt me..I did it to myself..made a fool of myself on the hunting party.." His rough voice was even rougher with his embarrassment and the way he mumbled his words out made it pretty hard to understand. He pulled away slightly from her scrutiny, trying to quell her fears and also his discomfort and shame.
Larchthroat looked into those beautiful yellow eyes and felt a surge of affection hit him like a brick. "Thank you for caring Dovesong..." His voice was slow and quiet, but the sincerity was very evident in his tone. He felt so special that she cared for him, even though he knew that he was really nothing more than a waste of a warrior. Just an extra mouth for the clan to feed.

if i could stop the rain would you numb the pain? She had come to sit down once more, just in front of him, and settled her nose on his forehead. She had always cared for the tom, making sure he knew what he was doing, that he caught onto everything, and explaining if he needed it. It was when she was not around that he seemed to hurt himself or, as he says, make a fool out of himself. This time after time worried the young molly.
While, to her it was all part of the learning process, he could still act like an apprentice in his choices and while she knew this, it never stopped her from taking him out hunting or with her on patrols. You have to go out and be there to get experience and this was something she knew very much about in her time watching over Larchthroat.
"Well love, would you like to tell me what happened?" She asked with a little tilt of her head simply adding to the cute accent that rolled from her tongue. "There is no need to thank me, I'll always care for you." Dovesong purred. Babies template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

The stubby legged tom felt his fur heat up under her attention. The way she called him love never failed to make his heart skip. He knew that she was far too beautiful for him, but he couldn't help but revel in her affection every time they were together. She made him feel like he was actually a valuable part of the clan and for that he would be eternally grateful. At the tender note in her voice he felt his confidence grow ever so slightly. " I uh...well I was trying to catch a bird and I might have fell in the mud..." His voice was nothing more than a mumble but telling her what had happened was a feat in and of itself. He always had trouble admitting to her when he failed and was perpetually afraid that she would end up seeing him for the mousebrain that he was.
Larchthroat scuffed his paws on the damp ground unhappily, eyes downcast as he waited for her to laugh at him or call him a fool like he deserved.

if i could stop the rain would you numb the pain? She stared at him as he spoke, it was clear he was comfortable around her even though he seemed very ashamed of what had happened. Though as he explained his mistake a small smile crossed the pretty white she-cats face. He was so adorable even though he thought of himself in every other way. Getting to her paws Dovesong bounced forward just enough to touch her nose to his and purr.
"Oh Larchthroat you silly tom." she said, her purr just adding to the oddly British accent rolling from her tongue. "There is nothing to be ashamed of, have I never told you when I made the same exact mistake as an apprentice." Dovesong sat back a little, her yellow-green eyes bright with compassion.
