[break]
Hemlockheart's fur is medium length and luxurious, though it has a tendency to absorb water when wet. Luckily, Hemlockheart finds herself drawn to water, and can often be found in the exact state of being soaked to the bone. Her fur is a muddy grey-brown tabby patches on top of a white base, running down to a longhaired fluff mass of fur that is her tail. Her fur covers a very sturdy build, made mostly for climbing and leaping, with long, sturdy legs and powerful haunches.[break][break]
Hemlockheart has strangely murky, faded olive-grey eyes. They blend nearly seamlessly into some of her coat colors, which makes for a fascinating singular color palette. They are rimmed with a deep black, which unusually does not match her soft pink nose. She has large, attentive ears, a long tail, small, delicate paws, and a general demeanor and appearance of sweetness and security.

personality[break]
It seems to be that there is a natural trait within the little family that dictates all kits will be happy and optimistic. No exception to this rule, Hemlockheart finds herself as bright-eyed—albeit a bit more down-to-earth and less prone to loud expressions than her brother—as Ottertail, her brother. She is known as a Clan sweetheart, for her constant love and warmth. She is compassionate to all, and is the easiest of felines to get along with. She is thoroughly optimistic, taking the world each bright, colorful day at a time. She is known for her peppy nature.
[break][break]
Hemlockheart is an open-minded, accepting individual. She is a strongly empathetic and can relate well to other cats, making her a popular choice to talk to when one is overburdened with problems. She is non-judgmental and gives wonderful advice, for she does not let bias or personal feelings cloud her judgment when helping others. She is in some ways motherly, but mostly is just a concentrated ball of enthusiasm and trustworthiness. She is fiercely loyal, and feels an unusual need to prove this due to her half-Clan lineage, never backing down from a challenge or a chance to prove her worth.
[break][break]
Hemlockheart, however, uses this joyous façade to hide a lot of pain. The loss of her father truly did damage her inside, and she began to disassociate herself with her family. She had also been harboring a secret, one which only her father knew, and without him, she felt entirely isolated. Her unusual behaviors and tendencies when she is alone, or believes she is alone, reflect the dissociation within her that grew incredibly powerful after her father was taken from her. She chose instead to bury the secret of the voices in the night.

history
[break]
Hemlock-kit came into existence in the early leaf-fall. She was born a half-Clanner, though the word would mean nothing to her for a long time. Her mother Petrelwing had come from SkyClan, the cats of the trees and rocky mountain landscape. She had fallen for the RiverClan tom, Cedarfoot, and had left her Clan to be with him. That was as simply as it was ever put to Hemlock-kit, and she accepted it with surprising understanding. She’d always been extremely open-minded, especially for a kit, and though some said it was dangerous for a cat to hold almost no bias against the other Clans, Hemlock-kit saw herself as being all the better for believing that happiness came before anything else. It was a lesson her father had instilled within her at an early age.
[break][break]
Hemlock-kit was extremely close to her father. Whenever he returned from patrols, she would cuddle up to him and listen to his stories. He taught her little tricks that would help her hunt and fight one day, and she looked up to him more than any cat looked up to anyone else. The twinkle in her eyes when her father returned to camp was obvious. That made his death all the more bitter. When she was but four moons old, Hemlock-kit was told that her father would not be returning. Cedarfoot had taken ill, and had died peacefully one night. Hemlock-kit was devastated. Her father, the tom she’d looked up to and loved unconditionally, had left her. She felt as if she had swallowed that of her namesake, the toxic flower that kills. She could only feel the sadness and confusion welling inside her young heart and mind, confused and feeling almost betrayed by his death. She had lost the one confidante she had, the one cat who she had shared her darkest secret with.
[break][break]
You see, Hemlock-kit was born schizophrenic. She told her father when she was young of strange voices she would sometimes hear in the night, and he told her that she was simply very special, but that they should keep it a secret between the two of them. When he was taken up to StarClan, Hemlock-kit felt herself plunged into a torment that she had not yet experienced. Mild dissociation with herself led to strange hallucinations, a myriad of voices, and a desire to end her life before it had ever begun. However, knowing her father would not have wanted this, she pressed on, and she came to conquer her struggles and reign in her strange hallucinations.
[break][break]
As an apprentice, Hemlockpaw was quickly known as the RiverClan sweetheart. She was a fierce fighter, but preferred hunting, and lazy afternoons spent wading through the river. She was just like her father in that respect, born to be a RiverClan she-cat. Without Cedarfoot by her side, she threw herself entirely into her apprentice studies, determined to make him proud, and show her Clan what she could accomplish. Her optimistic, cheerful disposition and sunny smile brightened the lives of those around her, and she was well loved despite being half-Clan. To most, it did not matter, for they saw her love for her father, and the distance between her and Petrelwing since the loss of Cedarheart, and knew she was loyal to the Clan.
[break][break]
Hemlockheart became a Warrior with her brother, and the pride in Petrelwing’s eyes was quite obvious. Mother and daughter had never been terribly close, but they were still friends, albeit strained in their relationship. Hemlockheart had no grudge to bear, but she also had no strong connections to her mother. They had just simply never been very close. She and Ottertail, however, had a strong sibling relationship. Hemlockheart proved herself daily, both by her enthusiasm in Clan life and her capabilities as a hunter. Fishing came naturally to the water-loving she-cat, and if she was not in camp, it was easy to assume she would be fishing in the river where her parents first met. It seemed to draw her closer to her father, Cedarfoot, and it became a place for her to find solace.
[break][break]
Though life will always carry with it the half-Clan whispers of shame and disapproval that come from such a family, Hemlockheart found that instead of letting it suck life from her as a poison might, she could embrace her heritage, choose to be happy, and understand that no matter what others might say, she is RiverClan through and through. She often spends time alone to deal with her schizophrenic tendencies, but has yet to lose herself in front of her Clanmates, and her kept the secret wrapped tight.
